Following the pandemic and associated lockdowns, use of technology in education has become much more commonplace. Despite this, knowledge about how Assistive Technology (AT) can be used to overcome barriers to learning and promote independence, as well as support teaching, is still not widely known. This session will show that whilst Assistive Technology is essential for some, it is also beneficial for all.

Michael Surr is an Education Officer with nasen, with a background in primary education both in the UK and abroad. He has worked as a class teacher, SENCo and Deputy Head. Since beginning his career in education he has had a keen interest in SEN, ICT and equalities issues. Michael has also worked for a Local Authority as part of the leadership team of a SEND advisory service.
