The provision set out in Section F of the EHCP must be detailed and specific. The only relevant issue is whether the provision is required to meet the child’s needs (not whether resources or services are locally available). If the contents of Section F are unclear it is possible that the special educational provision will not be delivered in the right quantity, by the right person or even at all.
Independent SEND Consultant, Garry Freeman looks at what factors make for a good, lawful, purposeful and impactful Section F in an EHCP and why that is the case. His training session also clarifies the legal requirements around Section F and what actions a school can take to try to make Section F lawful and impactful.
