Medical
It may not always be the remit of the SEN department but Medical conditions are a protected characteristic under the Equalities Act and therefore you are likely to have to advise on reasonable adjustments and provisions.
This page has the headings ready, but little information at the moment – it’s in the files but hasn’t yet been dragged across!

Top Tip
First Aid and Medical
Don’t muddle up the two. Whilst the individual responsible for medical needs is also likely to be a school first aider, it is not always true that the first aider is responsible for medical needs.
Keep your records up to date and separated. You don’t want to record insulin, ADHD medication and creatin in the same place as bumps and bruises – it’s a nightmare to pluck the information out if you ever need to refer back! (We had vocabulary books; one per child with medication – personalised to what needed to be recorded for them – but there are software solutions now available too.)
Check and double-check when administering medication!
