“SENsible SENCO emerged from my own frustrations as a SENCO seeking support that was both accessible and empathetic. The local authority’s services fell short, lacking continuity and flexibility, leaving me with unanswered questions and mounting pressures. I longed for timely assistance, not just during office hours but on weekends when crises often struck. Even funding for essential resources and professional development came out of my own pocket. The available services were either prohibitively expensive or required on-site visits, a luxury I couldn’t afford. All I wanted were answers to crucial questions without the bureaucratic hurdles. In 2016, an opportunity arose for me to turn this vision into reality. Thus, Hawkins SEN Consultancy was born, later evolving into SENDCO Solutions and giving rise to SENsible SENCO, a valuable platform that responded rapidly to the growing demand for support, particularly during the challenges of the Covid era. As we move forward, our commitment remains steadfast, with the aim of eventually transforming SENsible SENCO into a charity to better serve SENCOs nationwide.”
