Strategies for dyslexia in class and across the curriculum

13 June @ 16:00 - 17:00

Strategies for dyslexia in class and across the curriculum with Louise Selby and Abigail Hawkins

Event description

About the Session

So much can be done in class to remove barriers for learners with dyslexia. In this session we’ll look at key principles, with ideas and tips, for ensuring teachers get it right for dyslexia. We’ll cover supporting working memory difficulties, spelling and reading, supporting writing and slower thinkers. the focus will be on what class and subject teachers can do. We’ll look briefly at some subject specific considerations for dyslexia across the curriculum.

Why SENCOs should attend

1. Strategies to pass on to teachers straight away

2. These strategies are just excellent teaching and will meet needs of many students with SEND, not just dyslexia

3. These are relatively easy things to do and they cost nothing.
